GIBBONS ? This Gibbons line originated in Canada so far. John Gibbons was born in 1867 in Canada, but I don?t know where exactly. His mother was named Ellen, and she was born in 1821 in Montreal, West Canada. The earliest record I have of him in England in on the 1861 census, where he is married to Mary, who was born in Devon, Plymouth, England in 1866. John is listed as being a Solicitor?s clerk, and later as a Police Sergeant. They family were living in Surrey mostly, but in 1901 were in Wandsworth.
John & Mary had four children: James Edgar Knox Gibbons (b: 1871), Mary Caroline Gibbons (b: 1873), Julian/John Gibbons (b: 1878 ) & Helen (Ellen) Gibbons (b: 1880).
James married Rose Minnie Hunt, but I don?t know about the other children. I would like to find out what happened to James? siblings, and where John came from in Canada.
I found a brother of John's, Thomas Gibbons who was born in 1851 in Scotland. But I have not been able to locate their father, or anything else about this family.
