Gill or Jebb?
I have a great grandma who was Lizzie Gill born in Ireland around 1868. She came to the US around 1889. She married my great grandfather Samuel McKinnan. She changed her name to Elizabeth J. Jebb and his name to Samuel A. McKennon. I find no one looking for a Lizzie Gill or information as to why she changed her name. Her children were McKennon. I only guessed about who she really was and noticed that I am related to a Thomas Henry Jebb who is my 3rd cousin so I am assuming she has Jebb blood. I found a Affidavit formerly changing her name and his name in 1940, years after Samuel died. I only guessed on both great grandparents family. I seemed to find McKennons, McKennans, Mccannons or McKinnons that may be my family. I am so confused as to the correct spelling of his last name. I can't find a death on him at all, which would be in New Jersey. By then his name was Samuel A. McKennon. Why would someone just change their name? Is she a Gill or a Jebb? Regards, Kathleen McKennon (maiden name)

Hi markav, Samuel McKennon is my great grandfather. I have the records of the marriage in 1891. Thank you for that. I will check out Lizzie M McGill info. She settled in Elizabeth, New Jersey after she arrived around 1888 or 1889. I really think she is a Jebb but how did she get from a Gill to a Jebb. She had 5 daughters and 2 were named Martha. One Martha died at birth. Thanks for the info.
