Great Great Uncle Harris and his 8 Sons of the Hokianga, Northland, New Zealand

Journal by cliftonpcra

My great great Gandad HARRIS, Alfred and Great Great Gandma Maria Jane Harris (nee PREBBLE)are buried at the Waimati North Church in Northland. I am trying to find his brother and his brothers 8 sons that came out from England with him.. I don't have name as the family don't seem to know. My Great Great Gandfather went south and his brother moved north to the Hokianga Harbour. I heard stories that he started a ship building yard and worked the land. I would love to find out about them and their decendent.

Thank you ngairedith, this is awsome. It has filled a couple of gaps.
I have heard that Hecter Harris is the Harris that went to the Hokianga. The family believe that Hector may have been an Uncle to Alfred Harris. So now I will have to track down them.
I was wondering are you related to me? It would be cool to make contact.

I am also a descendant of Alfred William Harris as his eldest daughter Mary Ann was my paternal Grandmother. I am pleased to find the info on this site, so thanks to all. I have a story written by my Grandmother about her childhood; if it is of any interest I could send a copy. Anyone who would like to make contact my email is: andylinley7@hotmail.com (Please put 'Harris Family' in the comment line.)
