HARE family South Africa, India and UK
Discovered quite recently that my ancestor Joseph HARE went to the Cape (South Africa)at the beginning of the 19thC. He had a large family some of whom I am just beginning to find.
One of whom, Edward Melville HARE went to India but I have had problems finding how (why) they went to the UK, I suspect there was a death but I cannot find it. Anyone out there with a similar story?

Just an update Joseph had 17 children has no one any info?/
I am also searching James Stoke HARES b. c1795 (also seen it as HYARS) I believe they were from Lancashire UK at one stage as there is a daughter Margaret married? in India.
Also just realised that you are searching WILBERFORCE another of my ancestors, so I could be on the right track!
I do not have a James as a son of Joseph but I quickly acknowledge I have not located all the children, my family records claim he had 17. Joseph did live in the Wynberg, Cape and married twice. The Wilberforce connection being Sally his second wife. I keep drawing dead ends, people have promised to give more details but they melt away into the ether so I have no idea how much is available out there, I live in Australia so its a bit difficult to visit Wynberg. !
Harebelle I know the problem well as I am also an Aussie! I have John and Margaret born in India. Father of these was John and mother Jane. They were in India at the time of the Indian uprisings, army 40th light foot.
HI there Shelly how are you going I have come some way now I have found 16 children of Joseph and Sally nee Wilberforce.
