HEDGE: Alexander/Alec, 1890's Queensland, Australia
Alex is brother to Charles, Henry, Louisa and Frances(fem). Alexander was born 10th April 1845, christened 23rd August 1848 at Kennington(Lower Belgrave Place) Married(may be second wife) Ellen BOOTH in Townsville, QLD, Australia 19th May 1891.Their children- Ellen dob 12 May 1892 in Rockhampton, Isabella dob 3 Nov 1894 in Crocodile (now Bouldercombe), Alexander 11 July 1896 also in Crocodile. Alexander was mustering or droving livestock, I do not know much of him after 1896, except his wife Ellen (christened 12 Sept 1858 in Liverpool,Eng)died in Clermont QLD 10 Oct 1921. juner23 on mundia site, commented that in 1902 Alex may have fallen down mine shaft, though I have News article mentioning Alexander HEDGE death 'from extreme heat' in The Northern Miner (newspaper) March 12th 1889.This does not match the birth dates of his children. Still can not find death notice.

Thanks, Gerry, I will look into it. Searches today, newspaper "The Northern Miner" Charters Towers QLD, Tuesday 12th March 1889. Report from Townsville Monday 11th March extreme heat causing many deaths '112 to 116 degrees F in the shade. 'death from extreme heat, Alexander Hedge.' I can not find a family notice for him anywhere! Though I have found a link to him via Mundia site juner23 , she reports 1902 may have fallen down mine shaft? So if juner23 sees this she can send message, not putting my credit card on line.
Do you have a copy of Ellen's death certificate?
Does it list her as a widow?
Does it give any details on family ie husband children etc.
The index list for Ellen Hedge who died on 10 October 1921 list her parents as Walter Booth & Sarah Lisk, is this the right Ellen.
There is this marriage

No I do not have certificates. My Aunt from NZ, did a lot of the 'Hedge' history. I have copies of old letters, which were under my father's bed, from Alexander & Charles HEDGE, and Albert WIMBERLEY- husband to their sister Louisa,to their youngest brother Henry in NZ. I am transcribing these,They give a fantastic account of LIFE in mid 1800's. ELLEN BOOTH, dob ? chr.12 Sept 1858, St.Peters, Liverpool,Eng, married Alexander HEDGE 19 May 1891 Townsville, died 10 Oct 1921 Clermont,QLD. I have been doing most of my work on line, Newspapers have been great, as you can often find odd bits relating to events and link it back to police records, courts, and unfortunately Reformatory school for Alex and Ellens son, Alex, at just six years old(recent discovery, more to do) Thanks for the info on Ellen, did not have her parents. If I can garner more from the LETTERS, I will pass it on to you. Though, Alexander HEDGE Snr, may have been a bit shady.
I'm not related, to your Hedge family, not that I have connected yet anyway.
I do have Hedge family in my tree but they are from Bedfordshire and I know some of them came to Sydney Australia around 1855.
Do you know who Alexander & Charles father was??
I still think it would be advisable to get a copy of Isabel's marriage to Michael Patrick Ryan and a copy of Alexander & Ellen's and Ellen's death certificate.
The Parents were: Charles dob 1808, Colchester marries Louisa Mary BAYNE(chr.1810),
on the 10th Jan, 1833 at Rickmansworth, Hertford.
Other names on my HEDGE tree, WIMBERLEY,PUGH,READING,MITCHELL,ALLAN,LAKER,BOUGEN,BELL-BOOTH,BAYNE,WEEDON.
Happy Hunting
