My name is Brandilynn Francis Harinek, daughter of James Gale Harinek. I have a great great grandmother whose name as I knew it as DoDo. I received some information from my cousin Sunny 2 yrs ago and it just resurfaced. I would love to know anything about my family history so I can share it with my family.

My great great grandmother's name is: Helen Ann Ostapuik born in Starie Kuty, Ukraine (probably part of Poland back then). She married George Charyniak and came to the "New World" by boat, right after the Titanic sunk. The entered Canada, where DoDo lost one or two children at childbirth. In the Ukraine, George belonged to a family that made sleighs just like the ones in Dr. Zhivago. DoDo's family included an Uncle who was a professor at Kiev University. They moved to Idaho where my grandfather (James Gale Harinek) and Aunt Mary Wise were born in BlackBear, Idaho. Then they moved to Red Mountain, California where George Charyniak was working in the mines. He was hit in the stomach by an ore coar...developed stomach cancer then died around 1927, leaving two children to raise on her own. She then re-married to George Blakley.

She had two children with George Charyniak:

Grandpa Jim married my grandmother Francis Alberta Carter (Harinek)they had four children together:

Barbara Ann Wieszchowski (Harinek) her dob April 22, 1947.
My mother was born in Amsterdam, New York.
