I Need help with my CONNOLLY roots Please

Journal by herbatious

When my Great Grandfather John Connolly joined the 102nd regiment of foot (Madras Fuisiliers)in Dublin Private 4059 on the 10-8-1859..he said that he was born in St. Catherines parish Dublin in 1842.From the time he enlisted onwards his life was well documented .But trying to trace the family before that time has drawn a blank , the only clue we have is that on his wedding to Jane Groves on the Isle Of Wight Hampshire u.k.in 1874 he stated fathers name as Loughlin/ or Lucklan / Or Lachlan / ( difficult to read )Connolly ..If anyone can help I would be most grateful to hear who his mother was and if any other sibling and back further if at all possible ... JOHN OLDING .. WEYMOUTH .. U.K.
