Need help in determing the parents of my gg grandfather, John N. Helsley born 16 SEPT 1821 in Woodstock VA, died 25 FEB 1892, Belmont Co OH, married 15 SEPT 1842 in Rockingham Co. VA, Magdalene Foltz, b MAR/May 1820. Their first child was born 1844 in Cross News VA.

Magdalene Foltz is the daughter of the infamous Joseph Foltz Sr & 2nd wife Susanna Overholtzer. According to the 1900 Fed census (OH Belmont Co) John and Magdalene had 10 children (7 living) Most of the children were born in Virginia. The family migrated to Ohio around 1860.

My great grandfather's name is Charles Stoner Helsley. I'm looking for information on Amanda Jane Helsley who married John M. Stoner in the Shenandoah area of Virginia.

From 1850 to present time my line used the surname Helsley but I recently came across info that suggests that prior to that time the name was Hensley. There are a lot of potential Hensley ancestors in Virginia and I haven't had time to research that aspect yet. One of the best web pages for Hensley info is:

his father is Jacob "Jackie" Rosenberger Helsley 1789-1872 married to Mary Gertrude Helzel 1796-1886 then his parents are George Jacob Helsley Jr and Rosanna Foltz
