HICKOK = An elusive people

Journal by Grayowl

I am researching my Hickok ancestry and will share what I know, been told, and leave it to you to research for verification.

I am Victor Scott Hickok; my wife Sheron and I had 8 children and 17 grandchildren.

I was born in New York. My dad (1 of 8 Children) was born in the back of a Chuck Wagon on a trail drive in South Dakota on 18 Aug 1821. He entered the miltary in Minnesota, and discharged in New York where he married and settled down. Hi birth record was finally issued in South Dakota in 1975.

His father was Victor LaVallelt Hickok. born in 1883 in Minnesota. He was one of 3 children. When he was about 7, his dad died in a well collapse and at 9 his mother died in a house fire. The children were sent to reared by family members. Victor's wife was Maude Ruby Donaldson.

Victor had been recorded on Ancestry.com as Victor Laverne Hickok, but that was an error perpetuated by a family story that proved to be false.

Victor's father is Myron George Hickok, and I have found little on him and would appreciate anything anyone has on him. Myron's wife is Isabelle Holmes.

Myron's dad is Nathaniel Myron Hickok. That is all the info I have on direct line at this time.

Thank you.

Victor L. Hickok has a WWI draft registration card showing his middle name. I found it thru ancestry.com under military draft registration.
