History of 10 Murray Road, Northwood, Middlesex, England
My Grand Mother Ada Florence Rackstraw use to work as a domestic servant at this address from around 1930 up until 1936. I would love to know who owned this property around that time, more importantly if I'm looking at the correct house.
The property I've been admiring for some time is a 3 storey old Tudor style house with a drive way going through it and it has a small white sign saying Tudor Lodge on the wall of the house. I assume it is 10 Murray Road because you can see a number 10 on both sides of the gate entrance just left of the drive way.
I've hit a brick wall in my search for Ada. I thought if I could find out who owned the property from 1930 up until 1936 I could start my search from that angle. I've recently signed up with AIM25 in an attempt to start off a chain of title search, and was advised to begin with the deed of the current owner(s) Easier said than done. I'll Keep working at this, as I'm new at this type of searching.
I'm requesting any assistance with anyone that may live near this address or have any knowledge of that area, and confirm which property is 10 Murray Road.
There is one other thing that confuses me and that is how write or pronounce the address correctly. I have 10 Murray Road Northwood Ruislip Northwood U.D. taken from a birth certificate and 10 Murray Road Northwood Middlesex. Are they both the same?
Thank You

Hi
The two address are the same. Northwood was a place in the Ruislip-Northwood Urban District in West Middlesex. Which is shown as such on the birth certificate, but if we wrote that address it would be as you put, 10 Murray Road, Northwood, Middlesex.
To search for property information you need to go to the Land Registry web site, search by address and if you see something promising in the results you pay a fee of only ?3 for the information. This will also show you the exact location of 10 Murray Road. You may well find that the house is now divided into flats.
The deeds of the house will list all previous owners which will cost ?7. I have done this myself on my house which was built in 1880 and it listed who built the house and all previous owners. Anyone can apply for the information of a registered property you do not have to be the owner.

The link above will take you to the page with various links for deeds etc.
Hope this helps
