How do I find where and when name changes by deedpoll in USA between 1910 and 1921 were recorded

We have found out that William Gasmele McCoy, son of Elizabeth Agnes Clare was born in Sunderland in 1910 and travelled with his mother on the Lusitania in Sept 1912, passing through Ellis Island, after which we lose them until 1920 census when they were living in Summerville, Pennsylvania. We are unable to find any marriage details or birth details for his younger sister Eleanor Jane McCoy born 1914.
There is a family story about a name change by deedpoll for Robert McCoy who was a miner.How do we follow this up?

Hi! I am very new to family history research and just stumbled on this website today. I am also trying to track down information on Elizabeth Agnes Clare (McCoy) and her family. My grandfather was John William Clare, Elizabeth's youngest brother born in 1901. I am keen to find out anything I can about my grandfather's family. Do you happen to have any information about Elizabeth's younger sister, Martha? I am wondering whether she remained in England or traveled to the USA or Australia?
