How does one find records for home births assisted by a mid-wife in the early 20th century?

Question by Blueskies1616

My great grandmother lived in Orange County NY in the early 1900s and she was a mid-wife who helped deliver a large number of babies. Interestingly enough I am seeing a number of people who share a DNA connection also questioning ancestry information. You see my father was born out of wedlock and placed with a family that never actually adopted him. Now I am wondering if I can find more information about my father's origins? Does anyone have anything that could help me move forward?
