I wonder if there may be a connection here. I knew a Tom Seay (barely met) in Austin who worked (still works?) for the UT-Austin Music School as a piano technician. He had also worked earlier for Strait Music Company on S. Lamar before taking job at UT. Someone at those places might be of help in locating your relative's story/records.
