Dear Joyce,

I am the granddaughter of Margaret Mary Thompson and Ralph Thompson. For some time I have been trying to find out more about Margaret Mary Thompson (daughter of Clara Hannah Hutton) and her mother....

I can fill in the information you would like to know about the families of Margaret Mary Thompson and Ralph Thompson...

Please get in touch. There are questions I have about Clara Hannah Hutton. Her real name was, I believe, Clara Hannah Hillsdon, from Tring,Hertfordshire, England. The family changed their name on migration to Dunedin.

I look forward to exchanging information with you.

Sincerely,

Moya Smith

Hello Moya

Thank you for your reply, it was great to read your response.

What kind of life did Margaret Hurley have living with her father's parents. Why did the parents take custody instead of Clara looking after her?

I do have a lot of photos and information on Clara Hannah Hutton. Her father John Hillsdon was born 1805 in Waddsdon, Buckinghamshire, England. He had a business in England, but got into debt, I think through hard times. Was imprisoned for being unable to pay the debt he owed. When he was released from prison he then changed his name to Hutton and came to New Zealand in 1863.

However, there is more to the story.

I do have photos....do you have any photos.

How about emailing me on:- flight3@xtra.co.nz

Then it makes it easier to exchange information.

Many thanks

Kind regards

Jocelyn Le Noel

Dear Jocelyn, Sorry I did not reply straight away. I was in England on holiday when I found your post on the website. When I returned to New Zealand at the end of June I was very busy for the next six months. So it is only today that I have looked into the website again.

I am now going to write to you on your suggested email address.

Many many thanks for answering!
