Question by Googie

(Tikoko) Haunui, and my Grandmother's name is Paretoka, but her Surname unknown. He also had another wife before my grandmother, her name was [Keriana Waihaki] My Great Grandfather's name is [Pakeke Te Haunui] and my great Grandmother's name is Raiha Ahipaura.

Now, I'm not sure, if these are my Great Great Grandparents, [Wikitoria] unsure if that is a Surname or Christian name, and [Amarama Heretaura]

There is one more name, Turuamo = unsure if that's my Great Great Great Grandfather or Great Great Great Grandmother.

This is as far as the family tree goes.

My adopted father, was born at Waikato, apparently at Huntly region. Unsure how long he was there for.
He then moved to Waiotahi Valley, Opotiki. Bay Of Plenty, and made it his home.

My dads Tribe was [Ngati-Kahungunu] and his Sub-Tribe was [Ngati-Tamatea]

If anyone could help find the connection, to the Royal family, it would be a real blessing.

PLEASE email me ASAP if you find other information.

Hi Elizabeth this was taken from L.G.Kelly's book Tainui.
I hope this Whakapapa may help you to put your puzzle together.

The first Maori King.

There are connections to many Waka with the names above.
(1) Hekemaru parents come from the Aotea & Arawa, and other Waka.
(2) Tumanawahoe of the Mataatua,Tokomaru,Kahui tara,Aotea, Tainui, and the Kurahaupo Waka.

Many branches not here join with the Royal lines.
I tried to join with the two name given being Tamatea and Kahungunu.

I hope this helps you to connect the names of your Tupuna.

Thank you so much, Kawhio for your help, but I did research most of the Maori Canoes and the Royals/Kingitanga, and it still leaves me lost, as there really isn't any names that connects with my Great Grandfather [Pakeke Te Haunui] and my Great Grandmother [Raiha (Nuku) Ahipaura]

My Grandfather is [Wiremu (Tikoko) Haunui and my Grandmother is [Paretoka] I don't know what her Maiden name is.

Our Whakapapa Tipuna is called: [TE HAUNUI TE HAUNUI]
HAUNUI WHANAU REUNION 1991-1992 MAROMAHUE MARAE WAIOTAHE, OPOTIKI.

Well, I hope there is more people out there, that would help me put this jigsaw together. If only i could find someone that knew or have any information about my Adopted great grandfather [PAKEKE TE HAUNUI.

Thankyou so much, once again.

Liz
