I am trying to trace the ancestry of a William Apted who lived in Australia in the late 1800s. He had a son by the name of William Apted Bryson who was born in Levuka, Fiji on 17th March 1921. Can anyone help?

Tasmanian Directory 1887 (Middleton & Maning)
RINGAROOMA ALPHABETICAL DIRECTORY.
Apted, William, Ringarooma

There was a Convict William Apted who arrived on the Waterloo in 1834 and received a conditional pardon in Tasmania in 1844. A Richard Apted was also on the same vessel, both were from Surrey and both got life.

A William Apted married Elizabeth Paul 11th Sept 1839. Registration place, Hobart 1839 #421.

A William Apted was born 28th March 1842 in Tasmania.

Registration place: Hobart
1842 #1020.

The son was a naturalised New Zealander and lived in Napier.
He's on the electoral rolls there in 1969,'72, '78 and 1981.

Naturalised in NZ on 11th Dec 1978.
