I have traced by Great grandmother, Martha "Mattie" nee:Welch King's father as Joshua Welch b:1807 SC married to Nancy (nee:Gilbert) Joshua Welch was the 2nd mayor of Marietta, Cobb County, GA. The Union burnt almost all of Marietta, however, I found after the Civil War he lived in Fairburn GA and then Marietta GA. He was in politics and in several newpaper articles he is referred to as Major Welch. I find no Civil War records for him, there were however, other younger men with same name not him.His son-in-law was a Dr Aaron Green HULSEY, (Civil War surgeon ) married to Elizabeth nee:Welch sister of Mattie nee;Welch KING. , where in SC was Joshua born in SC and who are his parents or siblings When did he die. where is he buried. Another of his daughters married a Cyrus York, also in Civil War.
