I would like to know a little more information regarding William Kirk born New Monkland, Larnak.

Kirk is a really confusing name to research. I have come up against a blank wall. My GG grandfather William Kirk died in Waikoikoi Southland New Zealand on 3 January 1934 His wife was Hughina McLean. They were married in Old Cumnock, Ayrshire, Scotland on 29th November 1872 (this date comes from their son's birth certificate)I believe he was born around 1849 in New Monkland, Lanark to Robert & Isabella Kirk (nee Orr) but I cant find an exact birth/christening date for him anywhere.
I have his and his wife's death certificates, his son Williams birth certificate and notation from this to verify the date of their marriage. Any thoughts as to where to from now???

ScotNZ on 2020-02-27 23:32:35'Scotlands People' is Scottish Government Birth Death Marriage website, but it also holds census, divorce, church and other records. Once signed up you can search for anything but have to pay to see original documents. William & Hughina's marriage is recorded under civil documents as are the births of several of their children. The family also appears in the 1881 Census living with William's parents and I assume one of his siblings and family in Perthshire.
