newspaper report on 4 July 1840:
... The "Coromandel" sailed from London for Sydney and POrt Nicholson (Wellington), the 11th December. She is reported to have met with damage in the Channel, and to have put into the Cove of Cork to repair. SHe has on board for this place, eight cabin passengers and thirty-six in the steerage, besides a considerable quantity of goods
