I have found a death certificate for MARY MCQUARRIE nee CHISHOLM dated 1881. Her husband was Niel McQuarrie, tailor South Uist. She was his widow. She had a son Angus who married Isabella MacDonald from South Uist and they had a family in Govan. Mary Chisholm's parents were John Chisholm and Janet Stewart. I cannot find a marriage certificate for any of them.

Does anyone know of this family?

I am searching and have been search the Chisholm for a long time now. It is a "hard nut to crack" so to say. I don't mean one thing disrespectful. How much information do you have on the Chisholm family? With that said maybe I can better help you. When was your John Chisholm born? Have you come across where he was married or maybe not married to a Cherokee women?
Send me all you can on this line that you have and I will be so glad to try to help you. I sure have no intention of keeping all my time of search to be all in vain.

Hi,

John Chisholm was born around 1876 approx. in Inverness, Scotland. I think I have found census 1891 for him in Kiltarlity, Inverness with wife Janet and children. He was a tinsmith and possibly a farmer acc. to census. I cannot find birth or marriage records for him or his daughter Mary born abt 18ll. The Mary on his census was born 1832 so cannot be my Mary.

Her death certificate is the closest I have found and her son Angus marriage which gave me her name in first place. Mary Chisholm death at 70yrs in 1881, probably approximate as well. Says her parents John Chisholm and Janet Stewart, no dates of birth or death for them.

Born around 1776 not 1876 and found census 1841, 1851, getting my centuries wrong.
