Hello Katie - To help you I'd need a bit more information. I'd need the town your Thompson family were from and when you want to start, like Grandfather's first name and when/where he was born. Or, any information you have about them if you don't know that. There are lots of Thompsons so you need to be specific.

Thanks, my grandfather's name is gavin his father's name was Leonard Richard Thompson, he worked in spain hen moved to the Rhodesion then to the Uk.

Unfortunately because of the common name and no dates it is still very difficult to be sure who you are looking for. There is a 2002/1012 electoral register that shows a Leonard Thompson (over 65) with a Gavin Thompson in the same house at 11 Cromarty Way, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk but I'm guessing that Leonard Richard died earlier than that. There are dozens of men with those first names so you would need to know an approximate year of birth (and area in UK if possible) to make a better search.
