The Registry does not give any specific status to the informant other than noting who that person is, in the event that information provided requires clarification or confirmation. So really they just want to be able to find the informant in case the information given is not correct.
The informant is the person who notifies the funeral director of the deceased’s funeral requirements and who is able to provide the required information about the deceased as prescribed in the Regulations.
Thank you much for your response to my question.
That's my problem, I cannot find the informant. I'm certain that Joan Margaret Barnes is not the daughter of Ada and Ashley. If you don't mind if I express my frustration here.
For me personally, if I was not related to the person and was the informant on a death certificate responsible for passing on all the necessary information to the funeral director I would not say that I'm the son. The question that haunt's me is Who is Joan Margaret Barnes?
well, you know what they say about the milkman
eriously Joan Margaret Barnes may have been Ashley's daughter to a previous relationship. I think Joan Margaret had something to do with the family. You don't get perfect strangers giving death details.
The fear of adultery and mistaken paternity. Was it the milkman, postman, plumber or the pizza delivery boy. The swimming pool cleaner gets a mention here. Apparently in Spain it's the "butaneros person" who deliver butane. bottled fuel gas.
I honestly believe that Joan had something to do with the family, and thank you for mentioning that.

still looking for a connection
Once again I thank you for your help, it's really appreciated.
I honestly thought this was Joan as well. I even ordered a death certificate and had a brief chat over the phone with the informant Jeremy John Barnes.
I became a member a web site called "people Tracer" which allows you to search phone numbers, addresses, and electoral roles etc. What amazed me was how many Joan Margaret Barnes there is (was) in such a small area. I even narrowed the search down to just Chichester and still, there were 6 of them. I still find that hard to believe.
I honestly gave up after that brief chat with Jeremy, I hit rock bottom again.
I'll begin my search again in Chichester and see what comes up.
