Jacob Arney who died in Lincoln County North Carolina in 1784
Jacob Arney, left his Will, dated 1782, and probated in 1784, in Lincoln County, North Carolina.
This Jacob Arney, is not to be confused with the Jacob, son of Frederick Ernigh (who died in 1771, in Pennsylvania). Frederick Ernigh, arrived in the USA, in 1732. His son, Jacob, died in 1776, in Pennsylvania.
My Jacob Arney, lived in the area of York County, Pennsylvania, until 1767, when he moved with his family to the area of Tryon County, North Carolina. This Jacob Arney, had at least 4 children born in York County, Pennsylvania, Christian "Christy" Arney, Sr., in 1749, Adam Lawrence Arney, in 1751, Johann Heinrich "Henry" Arney, born in 1755, and Anna Elisabeth Arney, born in 1761.
The mystery, of this Jacob Arney is, we don't know who his parents were, who his siblings were, where he was born, where his parents were born, etc.
Jacob Arney's son, Christian "Christy" Arney, Sr., served several tours during the American Revolutionary War, and applied for a pension in 1833. During his deposition, Christian, in his 80's, and was illiterate, stated that his parents, Jacob and Elizabeth Arney, were from Switzerland, that he was born in York(town), York County, Pennsylvania, though he couldn't recall the date, since his memory was failing him.
So, we know, who our Jacob Arney, was NOT the son of, but don't know, who he was the son of, etc.
Solving this mystery, would be a great achievement.
Comments
The key, to solving this mystery, must lay in Pennsylvania.
We know, Jacob Arney, was in the York(town), York County, Pennsylvania area, at least between 1750-1767.
We know, that York County, Pennsylvania was formed in 1749, from a part of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and that Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, was formed in 1729.
Therefore, it's "possible", that records about Jacob Arney, reside in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, since it was the County, he would have lived in, prior to the formation of York County, in 1749.
