James Breed from Braintree Essex is my great great grandfather...Arrived in Melbourne Australia circa 1853 with the British Army ....40th Foot Reg...in that time married Sarah Ann Finan/Freeman in 1857 in Geelong and had two children...He fought in the NZ wars and was signed off because of illness in 1865..supposedly to return to Essex....I have his war records as going back there and maybe marrying again to a Martha Weaver..no record of a divorce to Sarah who came to NZ with the children and also remarried...naming herself as a spinster to James Rogers from Wanganui in 1869..I would love to find a ship record of him going back to Essex and to confirm if he did remarry to Martha and that it was him..
