James Gilbert was born in Moor Crichel, Dorset, England around 1811. As yet I have found no confirmation of his parents, but they are believed to be Edward Gilbert and Mary Lovell. I know James had a brother, John Gilbert born 1805, again no confirmation of his parents.

I have checked the birth/baptism records at Dorchester and the Bishop's Transcripts at Trowbridge, but nothing found.

James married Emily Messer (by Licence) on 08 April 1834 at the estate church in Moor Crichel and they had 9 children.

If anyone can help or suggest what I can do next, I would be delighted.
