Dear Elaine, Welcome. Think about putting your family tree online, I'd recommend Geni. It's a free site, when you click on the link it will ask you to begin your tree. When you become more experienced and/or decide you like the site, you can upgrade to GeniPro. I have my tree there and what I like is you can add the living in your tree and invite them electronically via their email addresses. You can do a global search for the suranme HEENAN to try and see if any of their data matches up with the names in your tree.
If you expand upon your journal here to include all 15 names of your ancestor's children, and their spouses you will improve your chances of contact by descendants.
State Records NSW Australia has a few HEENAN entries that you might be interested in. Just type in HEENAN in the keyname search field, click on all indexes, and click on submit to see assisted immigrants, convict index, licenses, gaol photographs, etc.
National Archives of Australia click on search now as a guest, type in HEENAN and click on search to see 202 records for this surname.
