Hello fellow researchers,

My great grandfather was James NAIRN. He was born in Wigtownshire Scotland in 1836. He emigrated to New Zealand some time prior to 1869 which was when he married Louisa Balfour CHAPMAN, who was born in Gamrie, Banffshire, Scotland. I cannot find any record of James' journey to New Zealand. The family recollections say that he journeyed with Stewart NEWALL.

I have about 500 names on my family tree. I have sorted out most of the Wigtonshire NAIRNS, with just a couple of brick walls.

A number of people have researched the CHAPMAN side of the family but if anyone knows of a photo of my great grandfather John CHAPMAN, born 1821, I would love to hear from you. John CHAPMAN and his wife Jessie McCULLOCH lived at Hope Farm above Petone, Wellington. I have yet to discover where John is buried.
