1889 - 1916 James Archibald Pirrit
- was born at Whangarata, near Tuakau, the second son of James & Agnes. He became a teacher in the King COuntry and later was on the staff of Green & Colebrook at Tuakau. Three years later he began farming in Morrinsville and was a keen footballer
- James served in WWI as Trooper 13/2893 with the NZEF, 9th Reinforcements Auckland Mounted Rifles, A Squadron. He embarked from Wellington 8 Jan 1916 & his next of kin was his father James Russell Pirritt, Kiwitahi Road, Morrinsville.
James was KILLED in action on 13 Sep 1916 in the Battle of Flers-Courcelette.
at Somme, France. His memorial is at Caterpillar Valley (New Zealand) Memorial, Caterpillar Valley Cemetery, Longueval, Somme, France

in 1903 (at least), James was the Chairman of the Whangarata School Committee
- Whangarata is about 3km west of Pokeno, Franklin

James Russell Pirritt died in 1918 aged 64
Agnes Johnston Pirritt died 1942 aged 80
- they are buried in Morrinsville
