I found this which might be your John Clinton Burkett, Mother Elizabeth (Ream) Buckett widow.

I found a ref to her marrying a John F Burket in 1879 Knox. I have been unable to find the marriage but ti might be worth researching.

Oh, FamilyDetective, I believe you've found a very important lead! THANKS! Harrison Township would have been the correct township. My husband's grandfather was born in 1879 and in your notes, John C Burkett is listed as being 0 years old. That fits! If Elizabeth was only 19 and already a widow, it would have been likely she named her firstborn after her husband. I can easily search Knox County records for a marriage license at the County Courthouse.

If it's not presumptious, may I ask how you located the reference?

I found this on the 'findagrave' site. This suggests his fathers name was George. So not sure about the John F Burket
