John Hoy was born Netteswell Essex in 1787. Parents James Hoy c1764 and Mary Fortune born unknown.
John,s married in 1812 in Magdalen Laver and married Mary Houchin at the time of marriage in same village were two John Hoys and wifes both Mary the other Mary is Mary Guy.
The giveaway is the ages of the two boys.
the other John was born 1803 this JOhn,s father is Daniel Hoy, mother Susanahh.
James Hoy born 1816 died 1899 married Jane Pettit married 1844 St Peters Meeting House. both died Essex.
James and Jane had 3 three sons all three went on the railway from Ongar, all three followed thebirth of this track and died for it.
All three were killed on the rails, unfortunately only one inquest has been found. These three men all married and al had children the tradgedy of this family is far from over, as William Hoy the younger of the three lost his son at the age of 14 yrs, who decided to follow his work mates into the river lea, and this led to his death.
Many saw his death but none saved him, but all knew he could not swim.the son died 1889 William died 1891.
Leaving William with a son and daughter to hold Mary the widow together.Lived in Tottenham
Thomas Hoy was the middle child went to live in Walthamstow, and died as his brothers on the railway 28th feb 1890. Thomas,s wife did remarry.
Joseph Hoy the eldest born Magdalen laver died 21 Jun 1889 in Chingford only one daughter was born to Joseph who marries Elizabeth Clark.
James Hoy who was Williams son continued his live in the railway but can find very little information on him,
so if anyone has any information on this family please get in touch. James married Louisa Bentley they had two daughters Dorothy Louisa who became Giles and Gladys May who became Taylor.This family resided in Tottenham.
