John TREASURE (5) bap. 11 Jun 1815 at Stoke Lane, Somerset, England
John TREASURE was baptised on 11th Jun 1815 at Stoke Lane by his parents Levi & Elizabeth TREASURE.
On the 9th July 1838 he convicted of robbery with violence and sentenced to 9 months gaol.
On the 23rd March 1840 he was tried for larceny with a before felony and acquitted.
On the 11th April 1840 he was implicated in the trial of Henry HODGES.
On the 6th July 1840 he was convicted of curtilege breaking before convicted of a felony and sentenced to transportation for 15 years.
On the 25th May 1841 he left Plymouth aboard the convict ship "David Clarke".
He arrived in Van Dieman's Land (Tasmania) on the 4th October 1841.
On the 10th April 1850 he received a Conditional Pardon.
On the 16th July 1850 he left Tasmania aboard the "Peri" bound for Adelaide, South Australia.
On the 17th December 1853 he left Tasmania aboard the "Lady Bird" bound for Geelong, Victoria and then went on to Adelaide, South Australia aboard the "Golden Age". His status was Free by Servitude.
On the 26th August 1854 he married Ann ROBBINS at St Saviour's Church, Bath. Witnesses were Henry WITCOMBE & George HANCOCK.
On the 17th November 1854 he left London with his wife and her family and his sister Jane.
They arrived in Adelaide, South Australia on 5th March 1855 aboard the "Flora Kerr".
They settled in Castlemaine, Victoria where John was a Dealer in goods.
He died on the 24th December 1891 at Duke Street, Castlemaine and is buried at the Campbell's Creek Cemetery.
