John Ward of Brisbane Australia from Glasgow Scotland?

Journal by sez56

John Ward was married in Brisbane in 1913 and died in Brisbane in 1939. On both his marriage & death certificates his parents are stated as Frank Ward and Ann Clary. He gives his occupation on the Qld Electoral Roll and both certificates as a Marine Stoker. He gives his birthplace as Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland, on both his marriage and his enlistment papers but extensive searching of both Family Search & Scotland's People has failed to locate his birth (estimated by enlistment papers to be January - 14th Feb 1880). He served in the AIF 31st Battalion from 13/8/1915 - 15.5.1919 when he was Invalided & returned to Australia
Given he was a Marine Stoker/Fireman, he may well have traveled to Australia as crew which may mean he would not appear on passenger lists and Australia did not require naturalization etc. of British subjects until the 1980's.
Can anyone help me find out where John came from or who he was?

Maybe canny rootschatters could dig up some info. Register as a new user, free site, Rootschat. Goto their Australia childboard first, then goto their Scotland section.
