Joseph Barrett

I am looking for info on Joseph Barrett. He is my 4th GGrandfather.I have found very little on him. He was born in 1812 in Canada. He emigrated to the US in 1852 (I think.) He settles in Seneca Falls, New York. I kinow of one child that he had (John C. Barrett-born Oct 1843.) I have no idea who his wife or parents were. All I know about the wife is that her last name was something like "Flourmont". Her father was a notery in Paris. Anyone else from this line of Barretts or know anything? Please contact me .

Lin68 on 2013-02-02 19:24:37My great great grandfather was Joseph I. Barrett, born Sept. 5, 1812 in Montreal, Canada and died April 29, 1894 in Seneca Falls, NY. His wife's name was Leocadia Fleumaux, born May 5, 1821 in Montreal, Canada and died Jan. 29, 1881 in Seneca Falls, NY.
They had 10 children:
John Barrett birth - Oct. 27, 1843 in Montreal, Canada , death- Oct. 27, 1934 in Geneva, NY buried in Restvale Cemetery, Seneca Falls, NY
Peter L. Barrett birth - Dec. 1853 in Auburn, NY, death - Dec. 18, 1943 in Lyons, NY buried in Restvale Cemetery, Seneca Falls, NY (my great grandfather)
Bernice Barrett birth -1858, death - Feb. 2, 1946 in Seneca Falls, NY
Louise Barrett birth -1860
Margaret Belle Barrett birth - 1863
Charles Barrett
Henry J. Barrett
Joseph Barrett
Edward Barrett
Mary Barrett

Do you have any photos, documents or anything like that you can share with me? (I'm also a scrapbooker and would love scrap those.) Where did you find the info yhou have? I had used all the resources that had or knew about without going to France!
My great-grandmother, Louise Barrett (John C. Barrett's daughter) married Frederick C. Duell. One of the interesting things about John C. was that he ran away from home and joined the cirsus. (That is fact!) he toured with Ringling Brothers as a strong man and also caught cannon balls! I even have a few photos of him and the muscles on this guy! I have a few photos of Louise Barrett Duell and have a copy of their wedding certificate. I also have a copy of Louise's baptismal certificate. I can scan and send you some copy's of those things if you send me your email address. I look and see what else I have that might be of interest to you.
I guess that with Joseph I. Barrett being our common ancestor that we're some sort of cousin so many times removed. I'm never quite sure how that really works.

I have a family bible from my great grandfather (Peter Barrett) with some information. I was looking through some photos and came across two which had names on the back. They are Earl Duell (age 3) and Clifford Duell (age 4). Are these any of your relatives? I thought they might be a relative of yours and of course mine. Do you live in this area or are you on facebook? I am still sifting through pictures and trying to figure out relationships. I have many pictures which don't have names on. megsmom on 2014-09-14 16:35:01Sorry I haven'been on this site for awhile. So much has been going on in my personal life and i haven't had all that much time to do genealogy research. I came to this site today to read the past posts and ran across yours.
Have you found any more out on Joseph Barrett or his wife? I don't remember ever seeing a friend on FB from you or an email. (Could you send me those photos through email and i'll see if I can help you identify them. If I don't know who they are maybe one of by aunts will.I'd like to get back into the researching soon.
