Joseph Patrick McKnight
From our own correspondent.HAMILTON. Sunday. The death occurred yesterday of Mr. Joseph Patrick McKnight, of Pembroke Street, Hamilton, at the age of 73 years. Mr. McKnight, who was born in Birmingham, England, went to Australia in 1879 and after 10 years came to New Zealand. He settled on a farm near Dunedin and four years later came to Hamilton, where he commenced in business as a land agent. Mr. McKnight was a well-known follower of the turf, and at one time owned a number of racehorses. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Mr. C. McKnight and Mr. Nelson McKnight, of Wellington, the well-known boxer, and one daughter, Mrs. V Drummond, of Hamilton
Thanks scorns, I have that article. I can't seem to find hid date of birth or anything on him prior to his arrival in NZ. He is my great grandfather. I've found articles on my great uncles Clarence and Nelson McKnight

Joseph Patrick McKnight was also my Great Grandfather as he was with 17 of my cousins. We live in Australia and our Great Grandmother was Catherine Dillon . They had one child Ruby while he was in Melbourne in 1890, Catherine was the daughter of a Tasmanian convict Timothy Dillane/Dillon who along with 2 brothers were transported from Ireland for burning down one of their father in laws haystacks.
