Looking for McCarron's from Narromine related William James McCarron

Query by Ammej

William James McCarron married Lorna Rathbone.

Lorna only had one other sibling called "Snow" unknow real name and he married Coral. Snow was a fun loving silly lout and not a great buisness farm manager and was known across the district for crashing vehicles half way home after attending yard sales. It is rumoured that Coral was unfavoured by old Mr Rathbone and out of spite she eventually "ringed and nuted" all the stud merino's, thus ending the Rathbone's fine micron Merino's. Coral then switched to Goat's (belived to better represent her personality and temperment). Snow now lives in Narromine NSW and it is unknown where Coral and her Goat herd got to.

William James McCarron married Lorna Rathbone in a registry wedding. Rumoured due to Lorna's mothers lack of approval of Lorna's decision to marry for love and that WJ McCarron was not high enough society for the mother's aspirations of only daughter Lorna. Rumours indicate that Lorna's mother was a mean beatly spirited woman who had a cruel nature and enjoyed such past times as counting back from first child birth to the weddings of all and sundry in the disctrict - just to check if anyone was a "shot gun wedding". Whilst old Mr Rathbone was a stern man who wore his army uniform and carried the crop long after the war, he was a good sole unfortuntely wedded to a wife that often publically announced he was her "second choice" for a husband.

William James McCarron and Lorna Rathbone lived on a wheat and sheep farm called "Terrowie" near Tomingley Race Course (approximately 1.25 hours west from Parkes NSW).

Lorna had 7 children:
1. Wendy (married and now in Dubbo NSW, had 3 children)
2. Maureen (married and now in Dubbo NSW, had 2 children)
3. Robyn (married and now in QLD, had 3 children)
4. Greg (married and now in QLD, had 3 children)
5. Donald(married and now in QLD, had 3 children)
6. (still borne - unknown details of death or DOB)
7. William (Dubbo NSW never married and no children)
7.1 William, child number 7 was born in the April after his dad died the previous January of throat cancer 9/1/1959)
7.2 William suffers sever epilepsy and still lives with Lorna

All girls attended Presbaterian Ladies College (Orange, NSW) and then all went on to become nurses. Robyn is belived to be the high spirited child of the girls, who when barred from completing economics and was told cooking and sowing was more suitable by her Grand Father Mr Rathbone, she promtly left school and whent nursing, despite achieving numerous academic awards which would have supported her preferred subject choices.

Greg attended Wallaroi Orange, whilst the youngest 2 boys attended Narromine High School.

Sons, Greg and William took over the "Terrowie" family farm until Greg married Heather Kelly (one of 5 daughter of the Kelly's mechanical reapirs shop in Tullamore). After Heather moved onto Terrowie, the two sons split the farm, with Greg buysing William out.

Donnald is belived to be the high spirited child of the boys, often coming home from narromine school with a black eye of two. He left school at 16 and headed to Newcastle to join the Newcastle Falcons Basketball team.

Greg and Heather later sold "Terrowie" and moved to "Breamaur", closer to Narromine, where Heather worked.

Greg and Heather later sold "Breamaur" and moved to Brisbane QLD early 2000's.

So ending the McCarron farm holdings and McCarron history in the Narromine area.

A check through the NSW bdms online in particular the marriages reveals the only marriage of a groom with surname RATHBONE with bride's name of Coral to be as follows:-

16638/1951 RATHBONE, VERNALD ARTHUR WILLIAM
to THOMPSON, CORAL ELLEN in SYDNEY in 1951.

Many thanks - probably explains why he never wanted his real name and went by Snow (although the blonde hair may have been there ?)

Thanks for your reply
