Ed Kellogg was a conductor on the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Train. They lived in a little place called Dorsey just south of San Marciel New Mexico. Ed Kellogg married Alberta Josephine Parker on Feb 16, 1885. Ed only lived a year and seven months after they were married leaving her with a five month old son named Vern Kellogg. She later married John cunningham in 1888 and owned the Hondo ranch about two miles from Roswell New Mexico. Then she sold this ranch and moved to Manassa Colorado. They had three children: Ed, Dora, and Charlie.
In manassa John bought 400 acres of land and they lived there for two years. it took six weeks onthe trail to make this move by wagon. The wagon train consisted of Mr. and Mrs. Sunby and the two little girls. The Crandalls, John's brother Jim and his wife and there two boys and the Kellogg family. In 1890 they left Colorado and mved to Otto Wyoming. There they owned a ranch called the JC outfit. He get sick and died in 1902. His wife then married a man who worked for the ranch and was a great friend of Johns. His name was Henry Britton (Jess) Roberts. (I have known this man to also refer to himself as Jess Yates and Jess Hale.) They had a family too. They had MarieCaroline (yes another marie) , Bob, and then baby Amy that we calld Pink. she came 5 or 6 years after Bob and marie who were 18 years younger then Dora. He was an orphan from Texas who worked for alot of the big ranchers. In 1902 they as a family moved to Copper MOuntain near Thermopolis wyoming. Still owned by John Cunningham's wife. Jess and wife had a family. A son L.G. Roberts and marie Roberts Woottan. he was Vern H Kelloggs step father.
Vern Kellogg was married to Hulda Nickelson ( daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Nickelson of Hermosa south Dakota) on Sept 6, 1905 at Basin Wyoming. They had two boys together. Lester Leroy born in 1907 and William born around 1910. He later was a great movie star and went by sstage name of Bruce Kellogg. Vern worked on several jobs around wyoming. thye ran a ferry at the Sweet Water staton and later at Thermopolis. thye lived in Vernal Utah for a while then coming back to wyoming they homesteaded on Grass creek. They also purchesed the Mayfield cattle company on Grass Creek.
Vern passed on in 1955.
Hulda married Cecil clinger of Ohio. They later moved into Thermopolis from the ranch at Grass Creek in 1965.
Vern son Lester ran the "Kellogg Ranch" on Grass Creek. He married once inthe early 20's to someone from Cody, wyoming....
Then he married Maxine Audrey Bishop from Basin wyoming in 1945. They had one son together. Gary Vern Kellogg in 1947 in Casper, wyoming.
They lived together at Grass Creek until Maxine died in 1993. Gary married Brenda Joyce Francis Kellogg may 28th 1970. They had two children together. Shelly Marie Kellogg born November 3rd 1971 and Vernon Brent Kellogg born July 17th 1974. They were raised onthe ranch at Grass Creek this is the third generation of Kellogg family raised inthis old log ranch house that Vern built. Shelly later maried David Lynn Neff of Cody, Wyoming on July 23, 1991. They have four children together, Andrew Joseph born 4/1/1992, Any Nicole born 1/1/1994, Cara Marie born 1/31/1998, and Julia Erin born 5/22/2000.
They own a ranch in Cody wyoming called Heart mountain Valley Ranch.
Vernon Brent lives in Casper wyoming and has never married and had children so he is the end of this Kellogg line.
