Hello Isabelle,
I am not sure if there is a connection, I do not believe that I am related to Rod Stewart. I do know an Ian Turpie, but I am not related to him. Ian turpie is on TV and radio here in Queensland.
To my knowledge there are no Mary Stewarts born here in Australia since 1900.
