Descendents of Andrew and Isabella (Sanderson) Armstrongs of Unthank, Dalston, Cumberland.

Journal by marymint

My ggg-grandfather William Armstrong came to Liverpool from Dalston, Cumberland to seek work. He married three times (1) Catherine Ward, also from Cumberland to whom he had three children; Elizabeth Mary,
John and Samuel. 2) Anne Williams to whom he also had three children; David, Thomas and Andrew. 3) Elizabeth Appleton to whom he had two children; William and Florence. William's father was David Armstrong, a Joiner/farmer who married (1) 1839 Mary Norman to whom he had one daughter, Elizabeth, (2) Elizabeth Strong) formerly Story, to whom he had William, Mary Jane, Joseph, Andrew and Robert. David Armstrong was the fourth son of Andrew and Isabella Armstrong who were married at St. Michael's church, Dalston in April 1801. Their Children were; Charles 1801 who became a prominent builder in Carlisle; John, William, George, Andrew and Isaac, daughters Mary and Jane. On their marriage certificate it is stated that Andrew came from the parish of Crosscanonby, but I have been unable to ascertain his birth in the parish records. Andrew died on 24th March 1829 and is buried in the family grave at All Saints Church, Raughton Head, near Dalston. If this information is of relevance to anyone researching the Armstrong family please contact me.
