Journal by noj1

Our www.hornsby/ca family site locates Hornsbys ex Herefordshire and surrounds who moved Birmingham, Eng., and Canada 1880s. But we assist Hornsbys worldwide to source locate etc. All Hornsbys interconnect.

Currently seeking descendants of George Hornsby shipped out to Aus on Maitland to NSW 1841 where he died 1860/61. Nicked for taking bag of straw for his mattress! He hailed from Kimbolton. Worcestershire, England. Shipston on Stour also refers.

My interests include Fam Gen and DNA. See by searching on Haplo Group Y R1a -- Wikepedia description or freepages site just below. Freepages site makes for easier intro read. Always looking for Hornsbys to come into DNA database for comparable studies and link ups.

According to the national archives it was chickens he stole "ER 14/2/13 January 1840 Contents: Prosecution brief in Reg. on prosecution William Fletcher, Ebrington v. George Hornsby for theft of 7 hens at Shipston." You can also find a little more looking at http://www.thefreelibrary.com/Rural+homes+sites+under+pressure.-a0148184111

I am curious though as to where you got the information about Kimbolton, I can find one in Cambridge and one in Herefordshire. How do you know he came from Kimbolton?

Here at Clareville Cemetery Wairarapa NZ we have a plot for HORNSBY, would love to know more, books say they came from Tasmania but would have to come from further afield orginally! Marryatt Hornsby was Mayor of Carterton in 1914-1915. then with his sudden death his father took the reins, John Thomas Hornsby for a few years 1916-1917. Other periodicals say they were in the Newspaper business.. Now there was a huge reunion this last weekend, and the name Hornsby was included, plus. Dougherty (Daniel and Sarah parents they originally came from New Brunswick, one of the daughters, Ellen became No. 1 REGISTERED NURSE IN THE WORLD, she was trained at Wellington Hospital. Died 1919 the year England began registration) Telford is another name connected to this family.. Thomas Telford came from Stirling in Scotland.
