Looking for ancestors of Adam ESSLEMONT (born c.1760)

Query by Aleks

I think a lot of people are stuck on this one.

My step-grandmother Patricia HARGREAVES is directly descended from Adam ESSLEMONT by this line:

Patricia, daughter of Winifred COOPER, daughter of Jessie ESSLEMONT (1877-?), daughter of George ESSLEMONT (1848-?), son of John ESSLEMONT (1812-1887), son of James ESSLEMONT (1780-1851), son of Adam ESSLEMONT (1760-?)

Has anyone researched Adam's parentage. He was born in Luncarty, a small town just north of Perth, Scotland.

I think actually he was born at Luncarty farm, just outside Turriff, Aberdeenshire. See http://webspace.webring.com/people/nk/kesslemont/web/fam1737.html

There are earlier Esslemonts from "The Barnyards of Delgaty" also just outside Turriff but I can't connect them.

I hope you don't mind but I am keen to know how my grandmother came to have the name Esslemont included in her 'names' as did my mother. Could this have been because her ancestory may have included Esslemont as a sir name. Her actual given (maiden) name was Esslemont Jane RAE - I believe the name RAE is Scottish. Unfortunately I know nothing further about her. I am a New Zealander and I believe she was born in New Zealand> Many thanks if you could offer any assistance..
kind regards

To add to Aleks' post again, I am descended from James ESSLEMONT (1780-1851). I do have a picture of his and his wife's gravestone in Tyrie if anyone is interested. I'm sorry the website I gave has gone defunct, particularly as I was looking for information from it.

The stone of James Esslemont & Barbara Barron at Tyrie aul kirkyard. Sits just behind that of my granda George Esslemont Easton & Barbara Thomson. Next to that plus one a wee stone to Thomas Easton & Mary Esslemont my great granda & grandma. Next to that a stone to Isabella Maitland erected by George Esselment (dodgey spelled version).
