Dear joybell, Hi. I did a bit of digging for you.
It's possible that your CONDIE ancestors were Scottish and they came to Australia via the ship 'Golden Era' which sailed from Liverpool in 1855. On board was a Joseph CONDIE# aged 10, together with his father William (46), mother Agnes (47) and a number of siblings including a Robert (20).
This family has been traced to Dysart (Fyfe) where Joseph was born in 1844. His father William was born in 1808 and was married to Agnes Gordon (see daughter 3.*) around 1830. William's father appears also to be called William. William Snr married a Jean (or Jane on some records) SCOBIE.
A search of the NSW Historical Indexes online reveals the following information:-
Joseph# CONDIE and Maria (Marie/Mary) HALLORAN married in 1869 at Sydney NSW.
9 Children:-
1.John CONDIE b1870 Redfern NSW d1937 Newtown
2.William CONDIE b1872 Glebe NSW d1872 Glebe
3.*Agnes Gordon CONDIE b1873 Glebe NSW
4.Maria CONDIE b1877 Glebe NSW d1917 Newtown
5.Jane CONDIE b1878 Shoalhaven NSW ... possibly married Walter DOHRN 1901 Balmain South --OR-- Mervyn HAYWARD 1944 Nowra NSW.
6.Johanna CONDIE b1880 Shoalhaven NSW (possibly died 1935 Dubbo, I say 'possibly' because father's name is John# not Joseph, mother Maria) married 1899 Hunters Hill (Registration No.8267) William George JOHNSTON ... I can find two children but perhaps there were more born 1909 onwards:-
(i) George W.M. JOHNSTON born 1906 Dubbo NSW died 1907 Dubbo
(ii) Hazel M. JOHNSTON born 1908 Dubbo NSW
7.Alice CONDIE b1881 Shoalhaven NSW d1882 Glebe
8.Clara CONDIE b1882 Glebe NSW d1882 Glebe
9.Joseph CONDIE b1884 Glebe NSW ... possibly married Betsy GARDNER 1937 Milton NSW
