I am my researching family history. I have a great grandfather named Eric Charles Trenkner born at Turakina 18/07/1911. Eric Charles' (or Charles Carl - depending on which source I use)father was Konrad Arnold Trenkner born in Warwick, Queensland - Konrad's father (Henry Theodore) was German.

Eric Charles (Charles Carl)and Lily Winifred Gust(of Rongotea)had a son Laurie Arnold Trenkner 10/11/1932 - Laurie Arnold is my Grandfather (he died 1959).

The records I have consulted are a little confusing and I am trying to find further references to Eric Charles (Charles Carl) - but it seems that Lily Winifred was married to a Francis Bryan by around 1951.

Perhaps your grandfather Charles Trenkner and my great grandfather are the same person. I haven't been able to ascertain what happened to the relationship between him and Lily Winifred - perhaps he made a habit of having a family and leaving??? What was your Grandmother's name?

I have been dabbling in a bit of family research from time to time.
Charles Trenkner was Ruth's(my wife's)uncle. Ruth's mother was Charles' older sister. Her name was Amy Ellen Trenkner who married Ernest Herman Gust. Lillie Winifred was Ernest's younger sister and married Charles in 1930. She remarried Frank Edward Bryan in 1951.
Konrad Arnold Trenkner married Eida (Edith) Ellen Simonsen - Ruth's grandparents. They were married in Rongotea 27 May 1908. Konrad was a baker. He served with the Sixth (Queensland Imperial Bushmen) Contingent in the Boer War.

I am just researching this family at the moment, my wife's Aunt was Wilhelmina (Willa) Grace Freer, who married Charles Eric Trenkner in 1946. Willa filed for divorce in 1956 and remarried to George Henry Ord (Mick). My contact email: irhocking@xtra.co.nz
