* On Sunday 23 May 1915, at Gallipoli, Johnny was fatally wounded in a dugout by a spent rifle bullet. AMR casualties in this bivouac caused by stray bullets and shellfire are similar to those on a quiet day in a front-line position on Walker’s Ridge. He was 21. He is buried C.9 at Ari Burnu Cemetery, Anzac, Turkey
