Kawhio on 2010-01-03 03:10:25In the pioneer days of early N.Z.
There was a chap called Capt Amos Kent, known by the Tainui Maori as Hamukete.
The arrival of Kent and his ship was a welcome event to the Kawhia tribes,for they now saw a means of obtaining the much cherished new weapon being the musket.
Kent later married Amohia, the daughter of the high chief who was later to become the 1st Maori King of N.Z.
A practices 7 generations later takes place today.

Are you refering to Herman Henry Voss who married Cecilia Johanna Maurer. Cecilia Maurer is the daughter of my 4x Great Grandmother, Katherina Carolina's brother, Johan (John) Maurer.
