In Search of Canadian Milnes

Journal by CarolynNG4

In Scotland, William and Janet (Tawse Reid) Milne had 8 children.

My subject is the son named William, who came to the U.S., became a citizen, and died here.

I searching for information about the other 7 sons and daughters. His brother John moved to Canada, possibly the same time William came to the U.S. William was a stonecutter.

Here's the Bible record, which itself is a copy:

?Copy of Family Register written on a blank leaf of a Haws. [?] New Testament belonging to William Milne farmer Upper Bramhill Kincarndine O'Neil Aberdeenshire Scotland:

'William Milne born in King Edward on the 1st Oct. 1818 was married to Janet Tawse Reid (who was Born in Dumbarton on 6th August 1821) on the 22 June 1844 and had a son born on the 17th of April 1846 Baptized and registered (and named Stewart) in Old Meldrum, Jane Born on the 10th of Janry. 1848 Baptized and registered in the parish of Kirthhall William, born on the 5th of July 1849, Baptized and registered in the parish of Tough, Janet Tawse Born on the 21st of February 1851, Barbara born on the 7th of Jan 1854, Baptized and registered in Tough, Alexander Born on the 1st of August 1856, baptized and registered in Tough, Helen Born on the 16th of June 1859, Baptized and registered in the parish of Kincardine O'Neil. Other Bible inscriptions, same page, say that Janet Reid Milne died in Scotland in 1889. William's brother John died in 1923 at Glen Ewen, Canada. His sister Janet died February 2, 1937, place unknown.
