I'm looking for any information about Duffs in Guyana, South America in the 1830s and 1840s. My great grandmother, Elizabeth Duff, was born there in 1840. Her father was Alexander Duff and her mother's name was Christina or Catherine. They were from Scotland and returned there sometime in the 1840s. They appear on the 1851 census in Scotland.

It may be that they owned a sugar plantation that failed and they returned home.

There are Duffs in Guyana, even today so , chances are someone else has ancestors who were there. What I'd like to know is, was it just one family or several? And any information about my Duff relatives.
