Hi Ian, Are you from William and Harriet nee HUNT's line? Fsther MB and Mother GH?
If so, would you like to make contact as I have a fair bit on that line and there may be something of interest in it.
Cheers, Glen

I am interested in one name here, Mary Ann BENHAM nee PACKARD. I am researching one Mabel Packard Benham of Takaka, and am suspecting close relationship.

hi ge,
what in particular did you want to know?
do you have some dates? or some more info which may help?

by ge_burrell on 2017-10-05 09:58:48

Sorry, correct name of my target is Mabel Packard BAIRD. Mother was Annie Elizabeth Benham. Father was Charles Baird.
Mabel Packard Baird was born in 1890. She married my a newly discovered cousin of my father - James Burrell, in Wellington on 3 December 1924.

I have no record of any children of James and Mabel. I have no record of remarriage or death of Mabel

your first query said ... I am interested in one name here, Mary Ann BENHAM nee PACKARD. I am researching one Mabel Packard Benham of Takaka, and am suspecting close relationship ...

Because I don't know what info you have to date I will add this and you can discard if you already have it.
I am supposing here that you are wondering about the connection with the name Mabel Packard Benham
Her father Charles Baird (1860-1939) had a sister, Jane Elizabeth Baird (1850-1922) who married Peter Bartrum Packard in Nelson in 1873
* and Mabel's mother was Annie Elizabeth Benham (1863-1927)

moving on ...
Mabel's husband was James Richard Burrell (1882-1948). He was base born to 17 year old Susannah Maria(h) 'Susan' Burrell who later married Ernest Alfred Ede the day after her 23rd birthday. Susan died in Hamilton aged 54 and Ernest remarried a couple of years later

James Richard Burrell died 2 July 1948 aged 64 and is buried in the Soldiers section at Karori cemetery. He was in the Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve

I cannot find a Mabel with any other name (as in remarried) buried in Wellington with the correct criteria. This doesn't mean too much as there are many people missing from these online databases. She may have remarried but if a date later than Oct 1937 then we won't find it yet.
I didn't find her in the Golden Bay Ward, Tasman cemeteries either

Mabel had at least 2 brothers & 2 sisters. Have you followed them up?

by GLC on 2017-10-06 14:52:06

Ann Elizabeth BENHAM was the adopted daughter of Edward BENHAM & Mary Ann PACKARD.
If you would like to contact me I can provide more info.

Thank you Ngaire and also Clen. The history above reinforces knowledge I have been compiling.

I have one further revelation tonight .. Mabel Packard Baird married James Burrell, but I am informed that she later remarried in 1955. She married William James Valentine Norling. Her death reference under Norling name is 1988/32750. The Norling family tree can be seen in geni site.

James Burrell previously married in England, and I have been responding to enquiries from Rachel Poyton (need Burrell) regarding her great grandfather!

Thank you for your support and interest.

Hi Ngairedith A lot more information has flooded in, and I am attaching what I find on Wikitree.
Mabel Packard Baird, became Mabel Packard Burrell, and from 1955 Mabel Packard Norling.
Her daughter became Mabel Chamberlain. Mabel Chamberlain's daughter became Annette Huston.

Thank you for your help

by ge_burrell on 2017-10-12 00:08:48

I am now informed that Annette Huston had a brother or half-brother Francis Chamberlain. On WikiTrees:
