HOLLOWAY FAMILIES of NC, GA, AL, MS, FL
Quakers, then Primitive Baptists. JOHN, Major, THOMAS, and WILLIAM {HOLLOWAY} of North Carolina were all Patriots and Soldiers of the Revolutionary War. Their children became teachers, lawyers, farmers, each contributing to the birth of this country. Thomas is buried on his land that is now a part of Eno River State Park near Durham, NC. Their father Vermillion and mother Martha are buried along with Thomas and some of his family on Thomas's land. Thomas's 19 children spread out across the country. So did the children of JOHN, Major, and WILLIAM. JOHN was born May 10, 1745(NC) and died at his son's home in Hall county GA in 1818. He was buried in Lake Church Cemetery in Candler county GA (once a part of Bulloch county) which was his home. I have found many records on the Holloways and am very proud of them. JOHN's son JEREMIAH, b. April 5, 1776(NC) d. Aug. 5, 1848 (AL, New Home Cemetery in Elba) is my direct link to JOHN.

Was wondering if any of the above HOLLOWAYs mentioned had a son named Bremillion that was born in around 1725? Me and another Holloway researcher is stuck on the same person. We would love to have your help in pointing us the right way. You can e-mail me personally at LadyHunter423@aol.com.
Their dad Vermillion was born in 1725 in VA, who's wife was Martha. Son Thomas had a son named Bremillion in Orange county. Bremillion later moved to TN.
I am the other Holloway researcher looking to move beyond Vermillion. My Holloway line is Vermillion (which I thought was Bermillion) Thomas, Bremillion, Willam, Joseph, William Joseph, James Thomas, Lois then I. I can't seem to find anything more on the Holloway line. Do you have more info? I would love to find that last connection across the ocean to where my Holloway line came from.
I know this is maybe a little late, but I have a second cousin who has done all the research on Vermillion side of the family. I will try to get the info. I have read a lot of it. Unfortunately, I don't want to past on false information. I sorta remember that Martha is actually his second wife. Records were not kept will back then. I think also that is might have been from Ireland or Irish descendants. His first wife died in Va. He later moved with Martha to a different state. I will make sure I get all of the info from her. It's pretty in depth. Oh and I think Vermillion also had 7 children with Martha.
You are right. Know there were Holloways that moved from England to Ireland. Found the Vermillion family in Ireland. Noticed that the Holloways sometimes named their children after the last names of families they knew or knew of. I am also checking Quaker records for more information. Thomas's will is on orange county genweb. They have it in text or the actual images of the will. Will check the Durham county genweb. John and William's land plats are on the Georgia virtual library website. Has their signatures on them.
Are all the ones you mentioned above sons of Vermillion? I have a John and Thomas Sr. down so far.
Hope someone here can help me...
I have traced my family tree (on my Dad's side) back to Bremillion or Bermillion or Vermillion HOLLOWAY. I am somewhat confused and trying to get past this roadblock. Seems naming your children the same name as you or your parent was quite common...heck we have 6 Walter Holloway's on my side of the family!
Here is where I am stuck:
My gggggrandfather (5 generations back) was THOMAS HOLLOWAY of Orange County, N.C. (b:1740,d: April 9, 1835). I have a copy of his will (written 18 Nov. 1834).
Thomas had, at least, 3 wives:
Johanna Whitaker Holloway
?
Lydia (Bryant) Holloway - they married on or abt 25 August 1808
Between Thomas' 3 wives, he had at least 19 children
One of his sons, David Holloway (b:1783, d:1856) is my ggggrandfather and the first Holloway to come to Texas.
Anyway, would love to get beyond the Bermillion/Bremilion/Vermillion mystery.
Thank you!
Chandra Holloway
I am a des. of Bermillion Holloway thru his son Samuel
