Gesina KLOFKORN

Journal by dreen22

I have recently discovered a marriage for Gesina KLOFKORN in Bremen at the British Consulate. The marriage took place in 1898. I am now trying to discover the whereabouts of the Marriage Certificate. It is not lodged at the GRO in the UK and British Embassy says to contact Kew, which is virtually the same. Gesina was the daughter of Heinrich Lubertus KLOKFORN and Gisela WITTERMAN.

The person she married was born in England but lived in Germany from about the age of 12, however the family may have let him keep his English status which, perhaps, who knows, may account for the marriage at the British Consulate.

Enquiries I have made so far have all drawn a blank and I have no idea where to look next.

I have been researching for nearly 20yrs and have never come across this type of query, I expect there will be a perfectly reasonable explanation eventually but at present I'm completely in the dark.
I have the relevant facts but at the moment that is not helping.
