Sarah Chamberlain b. 1834 is probably the same person who married Brown Hunt in 1854. They had seven children, with Sarah dying in childbirth with Herbert West Hunt.
Herbert Hunt was raised by Edward Vaughan and his wife Jane Gourlay, who at that time were farming in Waiwhetu in Lower Hutt. They were neighbours to Caroline Hunt who was married to Daniel West and was the older sister of Brown Hunt, and that time were fostering a child called Helen Campbell Christie, daughter of Jane's sister Janet.
In 1876 Jane and Edward had their own daughter Martha Vaughan.
Brown Hunt is reported to have died of a self-inflicted gunshot injury in 1909.
